Comment from Robert Lasher

I am an Uber Driver and I have been driving for a little more than 3 years. I am writing to state that I oppose any statute or regulation that would interfere with the flexibility of being able to choose my own hours of operation, that would change my status as an independent contractor, or that would impose additional requirements that would interfere with my ability to generate income. I suspect that any interference is coming from the taxi industry that has run its business so badly that it has enabled a business like mine to thrive. It may also be coming from drivers who sit around waiting for business to come, rather than driving towards areas where business is likely to be. The ride-share business is essentially self regulating. Drivers either get out there at times that work for them, or they don’t. If you further regulate this business it will result in the most productive drivers getting screwed, and no one really benefitting.
