Comment from David Johnston

I drive for Uber Eats in addition to having a number of other gig economy opportunities that together, provide me with with the income I need to pay my bills. The primary reason I am able to make these opportunities work together is because I am considered an independent contractor. As such, I get to decide which opportunities to accept and set my own schedule. This fact is paramount to making this situation work for myself. Forcing Uber Eats and other companies like them to treat us independent contractors as employees would eliminate that flexibility because we would likely have to commit to driving a specific schedule and/or meeting delivery quotas. Please do NOT change something that works for so many people. I don’t have a problem with the minimum wage in situations where it works, but gig economy jobs such as those offered by Uber Eats are NOT one of those situations.
